  COVID-19 Response

The Oaks Community Church COVID-19 Pandemic Response

The Oaks Leadership Board of Elders had a lengthy meeting to pray and discuss protocols for all future meetings, ministry, and maintaining of social connection in these times of serious pandemic.  Here are the unanimous decisions that we feel must be implemented until further notice.  We will continue in close contact as a group and update these decisions as necessary.

1) This is a deadly serious pandemic.  After researching, Doc John related that the testimony by Dr. Fauci (head of National Institute of Infectious Disease) that Coronavirus is 10X more serious than the regular flu is fact.

2) The Oaks will abide by all recommendations of the CDC, The Surgeon General, President Trump, Governor Pritzker, and others who are in authority over us (Romans 13:1-7).

3) All meetings on church grounds will be suspended until further notice.  This includes Worship, Sunday School, Prayer Meetings, Bible Studies, Small Groups, AA, Weight Watchers, Man-in-the-Mirror.  We especially regret this decision regarding AA as we know how critical these meetings are for continued sobriety.  The coronavirus remains active for hours in the air and days on surfaces, so this is the only wise decision at this time for the good of all Oaks family and especially our staff who need to be on-site for continued ministry duties.

4) We are going to do our best to maintain “cyber-social-connection” via internet streaming, Oaks App, and Oaks Website.  We are presently working on implementing the following:

Rev Marty:
1) Livestream as much of Sunday worship service as possible and “worshipful.”  To this end, we will have prayer and sermon but not live music as this requires onsite musicians and professional mixing for good streaming.  We hope to use music videos if we can do this within copyright.  Our Leadership Board of Elders will be the audience so I do not have to preach to only Chuck:)

2) Livestream of Prayer Meeting (we hope).  I will offer brief homily based upon Lenten Devotional, and then prayer.  Our Leadership Board of Elders will be only members present.  They are also available to receive your prayer requests for Prayer Meeting (as well as any other desire or question you might need to share or talk about).  Please use our Leadership Board of Elders as a primary source of your pastoral care during these times.  Here are their names and numbers:  Neil Ruhl (299-0111), Jeff Bock (371-2750), Jon Zellmann (368-2315), Mark Fessler (630-913-1686), John Stuckel (224-2544), Dave Masters (696-1844), Jeff Olson (525-5665), John Lindell (573-2133), Mel Rash (335-2062).

3) Stream morning 10+10 (read our daily chapter with a little exposition of text, brief prayer together).  Time to be determined.

4) Stream evening “It Is Finished” Lenten daily devotional.  Time to be determined.

Rev Chuck:
1) Livestream REVEAL as “normally” as possible on Sunday evening.

2) Google Hangout with REVEAL youth every afternoon at 2pm.

3) Online gaming with REVEAL youth.

1) Livestream Sunday School as “normally” as possible (a song followed by Mr. John’s lesson).

2) Stream the reading of Acorn age-appropriate stories and devotionals at to-be-determined times.

One final thing- We are praying that all will be diligent to see that their tithe gets to the church:)  At this time, very few of our operating costs will go down (with the exception of Sunday doughnuts:).  We will try to accommodate any method of giving you might require/desire.  Contact church office (879-2042) or any of our Leadership Board of Elders.

God bless and keep you all,
All my love and prayers,
