Greetings from The Oaks Community Church.
My name is Marty, and I am the Senior Pastor of the Oaks.
We are a young "planting of the Lord" (Isaiah 61:3) located "out in the sticks" of west central Illinois. We are living proof that God can bless any church anywhere! Hallelujah!
We are a simple church based upon Isaiah's prophecy in Chapter 61, verses 1-3.
1The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
Because the Lord has anointed me
To bring good news to the afflicted;
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to captives
And freedom to prisoners;
2 To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn,
3 To grant those who mourn in Zion,
Giving them a garland instead of ashes,
The oil of gladness instead of mourning,
The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting.
So they will be called oaks of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
From these verses we get our "simple" purpose-
1) sow the seeds of the gospel into the hearts of the afflicted, brokenhearted, captives, prisoners, and those who mourn;
2) grow into oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord,
that He may be glorified!
If this sounds like the kind of simple church you have been looking for, then on behalf of the Oaks Community Church I say, "Welcome home."
For His Glory,
